Meet our little chickadee…. I think I’ll nick-name him Charlie-the-Chickadee.
He (or perhaps, maybe he’s a she), is sitting on an evergreen limb and contemplating it’s next adventure. I’ve loved Chickadees ever since going on my first conservation area trip in elementary school to Claireville Conservation area. I do not know if they offer the same educational programs that they used to years ago, but I vividly recall being shown to hold our little hands out with sunflower seeds in them to offer to the chickadees. It was amazing when they fluttered down and gently took a seed. And if we were lucky, they landed on our hands to grab more than one. That was most likely one of my first experiences of understanding how we can connect with nature. It has always stuck with me, and is also why I’m so intrigued with chickadees. They are so small but still can learn to trust a human (with a handful of food).
This is an original piece of artwork. It is 8″ x 10″. The medium used is mixed media, mainly watercolour paint with some use of Prismacolour Premier (Artist-Grade) coloured pencils for some of the fine detail.
And, best of all – he is for sale! Here is the EVOLUTION of this little chickadee.
